I Know You Got Soul
by Jeremy Clarkson
|
Everything you expect from Clarkson, as he writes about "machines with that certain something".
Twenty-one chapters, one per machine: boats, planes, space craft (real and fictional), guns and, of course, cars. Yes, there's a certain formula to the essays: a bit of history, an anecdote, some questionable "facts", talking-up the opposition, revealing the flaws in the chosen machine, concluding that the flaws are what make the machine. Normally, that'd be a problem, but here it's just what you want. "Give us another one, Jeremy", you think as you finish one newspaper-column length chapter.
My rating: Good fun
