Funny, but uncomfortable. My first impression of this book, based on a few chapters, was that I was going to love it. It was well written, in a 1970s kind of way, and funny with it. Then it became a little more uncomfortable (the rapes, the child abuse... but hold on, it's funny and philosophical... keep on reading). Then a little repetitive (man lives his life by the throw of a dice, so the dice are thrown, consequences follow, repeat...). And, well, it's a difficult story to know how to end well. It deserves to be the classic that it is, but my attention span isn't what it used to be. My rating: Good |
