Deservedly popular.

It's a great read and very hard to put down once you start. It's rather like a Crichton book, or you could maybe see it as a grandson-of-Indian-Jones style story. For me it was let down by the way fact and fiction are so intermixed. I now have no idea what parts of the story are fact, and which bits are made up. But other than messing with your mind in that way, you pretty much have to read it.
